Murder
"You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13). Murder is one of the sins named in the Ten Words that Yahweh gave to Moses. Paul writes that the Law is not made for a righteous person but for the lawless and ungodly, including "murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers" and "manslayers" (1 Timothy 1:9). Life comes from God, and taking another person's life is an attack on what He has made. This category is part of the series on the Ten Words, which looks at each of the ten sins Yahweh declared in His covenant with Israel through Moses. No separate articles have been posted here yet, so this page introduces the theme through the commandment itself. To go further, explore the other categories under The Ten Words and the broader teaching on The Law of Moses, which explains how the Law is spiritual and points to Christ. Each commandment shows us more of God's heart and our need for His mercy and new life in Jesus.
