The Sanctuary

"Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them" (Exodus 25:8). After choosing His people, the Lord of heaven and earth wanted to come to them in a way they could discern. He desired a dwelling place on earth, where He could bless them and have fellowship with them. Through the Law, Moses was given exact instructions for building this Sanctuary. The Hebrew word, mikdash, comes from the root qadash, meaning to set apart, consecrate or sanctify. So the Sanctuary of Yahweh was a place set apart for His dwelling, where He would make Himself known to the children of Israel. God also gave a pattern to follow, "the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all of its furniture" (Exodus 25:9). This section looks at the different parts of the Sanctuary and how its pattern reflects the reality of Yahweh's dwelling place in heaven. Its study, "Importance of the Pattern," shows the spiritual truths the Holy Place holds for those who seek Him.
