Fear & Respect

"Only fear Yahweh, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things he has done for you" (1 Samuel 12:24). Fear and respect are closely related, and the fear of God is not something to run from. It is a necessary thing, and it ultimately leads to faith. Many people think of fear only as something negative, but Scripture shows a right kind of fear: seeing God as He truly is and giving Him the respect He deserves. This section explores that teaching. Its main study, "A New Look at Fear," reduces fear to a core understanding: it is the revelation that something has power over your life. When we see that Yahweh holds power over all things, our fear of everything else is put in its place, and our reverence for Him grows into trust. If fear has had a hold on you, or you want to understand what it means to fear God in a healthy way, start with that study and let Scripture reshape how you see Him.
